HIPAA Compliance Consultations

If you are a covered entity or business, determining whether your data collection, storage, and electronic data communications meet HIPAA compliance standards can be daunting. The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Health Information Privacy Page For Covered Entities and Business Associates provides information for covered entities and businesses, and information on HIPAA compliance auditing. Besides protecting your clients/patients, violation penalties are of utmost concern for covered entities and businesses. Penalties  are tiered and dependent on: (a) cause; (b) the nature and extent of the violation; and, (c) the nature and extent of the harm resulting from the violation. Penalties can range from $100 for a single violation (e.g., a single document is leaked in ignorance) to $1,500,000 per calendar year (e.g., multiple violations occur due to willful neglect). If you are concerned that you may be a covered entity, and are not in compliance, DRCB Consulting offers HIPAA compliance consultations, and recommends quick strategies to protect your business until resources for permanent compliance procedures & policies are in place.

Performance Management

Performance Management (PM) Consultations include management of individual employees and/or groups of employees through the application of ABA-based procedures. The process requires an analysis of organizational structures, individual and group functions, and the behavioral antecedents, and consequences supporting behaviors that affect performance within the organization. Variables that decrease unproductive or increase mastery performance are targeted for change. The process is guided by data collection, feedback, and is sometimes nonlinear in implementation. Interventions such as goal setting, technological upgrades, incentive systems, and individual, group, and organizational feedback affect the organization at both molecular and molar levels. Depending on level of performance management desired (e.g., individuals, groups, managers, executives), OBM consultations may require analyses of just some (e.g., human resources) or all levels of the organization (e.g, employee job descriptions to collections management).

Workplace Safety

OBM has a rich history of empirically validated ABA interventions to improve workplace safety. Workplace environments are analyzed and altered to reduce injuries and promote and maintain safe behaviors across all levels of an organization, industry, or group. Actions to change workplace behavior are implemented through administrative authorities with the resources to promote safety priorities and protective behaviors at all levels of an organization. Administrators are trained to implement behavioral safety interventions that include rewards for communicating about safety hazards with their colleagues, supervisors, and upper management. These feedback systems are critical to maintain and strengthen workplace safety. Intervention evaluation includes creation of reliable, direct observation measures to regularly evaluate workplace safety. Periodic evaluations allow administrators to identify areas of particular risk, as well as identify future preventable safety hazards.

Quality Assurance

Consistency of measurement in workplace settings is key to evaluating employee performance, services, and/or product quality. In OBM, consistency is typically measured through direct observation of employee behavior and comparison of permanent products. Two forms of measurement are key to workplace quality assurance evaluations: (a) the degree to which different observers give consistent reports of the same observed event; and, (b) the degree to which employees are adhering to required organizational policies and procedures. Quality assurance data are utilized to quantify new employee performance, give group feedback with objective data, assess future outcomes, reward employee competency, and much more. Checks to compare individual employee performance (or permanent products) facilitate employee accountability and ultimately maintenance of established company standards. These data can be compiled to estimate quality assurance scores for a division, or an entire organization. Quality assurance (QA) measures enable organizations to assess, improve, and maintain high quality products and services. External QA observation is especially useful; analyses may occur unexpectedly, is unaffected by favoritism or bias, and avoids "we've always done it that way" attitudes/patterns.

Systems Analysis

Behavioral Systems Analysis methods identify how structures within an organization interact, as well as how individual employee performance factors into the organization's global functioning. ABA methodology identifies pivotal behaviors, procedures, and policies that significantly impact individual and organizational performance. Analyzing all levels of the organization as a system helps identify modifications that can have the largest positive impact. Conducting a systems analysis is often a critical first step to planning and managing organizational expansion

Everything Under The Sun

Many businesses have diverse needs and face challenging deadlines. Maintaining business operations may require tasks that do not always fit neatly under any one person's job description. When such tasks require intelligence, specific skills, or trust, persons in charge may hesitate in delegation (and therefore growth). For new businesses, such tasks may pile up and prompt all-nighters. Small business owners and entrepreneurs are often overworked, underpaid, and trapped in a cycle of all work/no-play. For these reasons, DRCB Consulting provides this category of consultation. Examples provided are not exhaustive. DRCB Consulting caters to clients with unique requests. Feel free to ask for details.
